Regarding your suggestion about adding a cotter pin or mechanical thread stop — there are definitely tradeoffs with that kind of setup, but it’s a valid point and something we’ll keep in mind for future iterations.

As for the quick-release pull pin, we tested a variety of hardware options and ultimately landed on this design for its simplicity, reliability, and ease of adjustment. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised — has never failed us in the field and even after hours / days rigged to an orbital sander for vibration testing, they all held up without issue. That said, we totally get wanting an extra layer of security, and your zip tie solution will certainly provide that.

Just a quick heads-up: using a zip tie may limit your ability to switch between the two clamp positions on the offset bar — so something to consider if you’re using that feature.

While we understand it may not have been a match for your specific application, “poorly designed” isn’t feedback we typically receive. We stand behind the engineering and build quality of our products, and our community has consistently found them to exceed expectations.

We aim to represent our products clearly through our photos, videos, and product specs, but we also recognize that no single tool fits everyone. We truly appreciate you giving it a try, and again, if it's not the right fit, we're more than happy to facilitate a return.
